Detail of the head

Close up view on the head progression. ( ...in rough condition but it's coming:)
For that girl so far I needed 4 hours+ ...I didn't think it would be sooooo hard...Still i need more time to adjust to digital painting!

New digital

I'm painting in Photoshop a surf girl on request from my girlfriend. I summarized the first three stages in this jpeg: 1.the sketch, 2.the colours and 3.little more details. i must say that painting full size human body on my laptop small screen is a big challenge:) it is not like a drawing on paper where you can see all, the biggest problem was getting the proportions right, that is why the initial sketch is very schematic.

Real digital painting #1 :)

I don't know why I have chosen him for this painting, may be
because he is my favorite bodybuilder-Flex Wheeler
First I made a sketch, then in another layer I started painting basic colours(at a later point i separated Mr. Wheeler from the background which i painted in yet another layer, i find easier to do the background colour mix) I did one more layer for the details on the top and removed the sketch layer....
After 2 and a half -3 hours of work this is where I reached...
To be continued!

OK, I'd just got it yesterday!!!for so long i was trying to paint in Photoshop by adjusting the opacity of the brush, wondering how all those other digital artist, get this realistic paintings with their tablets and I CAN'T.....and then....I remembered there was a DVD bundle that was supplied with the Wacom tablet. I uploaded Wacom brushes2 to the Photoshop brushes and ...voila i got PRESSURE SENSITIVE AND RESPONDING tablet...i was very happy and after a little play with the new brushes I started painting, what I consider, my first real digital painting...( Anyway I still think that i need a great deal of improvement to achieve before I could consider myself good:)

Remember this guy?

This is how this pic was originally but when i posted it it was blue i just had the same problem and i find out that nothing magical was happening, but i saved it as CMYK
instead RGB, and that's why was displaying in blue..ha ha ha...

Digital practice:)

I just took a couple of hours (plus) to practice my digital tablet skills (since I'm new to it ) I took the sketch of the man from the previous post and used as background to digitally crosshatch over it, after I added the background I did some white highlights. I also decided to switch off the crosshatching layer and achieve a different type of effect by adding new details to the background, saving it as a different portrait.

Sketches again

Yesterday I sketched some portraits taking these faces from a magazine. I used a regular pen and printer paper:) size of each is not bigger than 4" by 5" (8cm x 10 cm).
