Gatot Kaca

Gatot Kaca(pronounced Gatot Kacha) is a hero from the Javanese mythology (Indonesia), he is said to be the son of Bima from Ramayana story...
I've borrowed some of the details from an Indonesian comic artist I've found on Internet everything else is a fruit of my fantasy and help of my girlfriend.
This time I post some hi-rez details from the pic,as well :)

A birthday present

Here he is ....

...him and him...
...the process.

When I was a student in the university I used to do caricatures of my friends as birthday presents and everybody seemed to love them(be cause was something special, and I thought it would be better than buying them perfumes or t-shirts or anything like that...:P).
So few days back was my friend Tom's birth day and i decided to surprise him with one of my "special" caricatures!
Here is it (and the process, as usual:)

Painter IX.5

An update: I did some changes in the shading and changed the background to get diferent feeling:)

Meet Elfy....
...without background colours...
...and inside of the painting process.

I just got Corel PainterIX.5 and I'm loving it. Still a lot (practically there are inexhaustible options:) until i find a personal style of painting with it and customize it to serve me the best.....
I enjoy the art of young and very talented Singaporean artist Stanley Lau at DeviantArt
and I did this Elfy girl illustration inspired by his works.....Enjoy.

Marker Sketches

I did this sketches some time ago, the interesting with those is I used 0.5 mm permanent marker (for marking CD-s ) and directly sketched them down from magazine photos without using pencil to construct them prior inking.
I warmed up to get use to the marker first, and did some initial sketches. I found it is a good exercise to get rid of fear that once you have laid the lines you can't erase them, and that is why is a very useful tool for becoming more spontaneous when drawing(which I need desperately:))).
The hardest part, for me was to get proportions right....I think I'm going to do more of these in future...
